Pay: $17.50 per hour
Schedule: Full-time seasonal, including weekends and holidays

The Town of Brookline is seeking qualified candidates to support seasonal operations at historic Larz Anderson Park. Park Rangers help ensure the park remains welcoming, safe, and well-maintained by providing visitor assistance, monitoring park activities and permits, and performing routine grounds maintenance.

Working throughout the park, Rangers interact regularly with visitors, help enforce park policies, and assist with the care of facilities, landscapes, and natural areas.

Essential Functions:

  • Patrol Larz Anderson Park by vehicle, foot, or other means to promote public safety, protect park facilities and grounds, and educate visitors about Town park rules and regulations.
  • Provide visitor support and information about park facilities, programs, and Parks and Open Space policies.
  • Monitor park activity and manage permit use for picnic areas, athletic fields, and special event spaces; issue permits for walk-in facility use when appropriate.
  • Assist with park events and programs as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance and landscaping tasks throughout the park, including care of pathways, picnic areas, pavilions, and the lagoon.
  • Clean, stock, and maintain public restrooms and barbecue areas.
  • Support invasive species management efforts to control aggressive non-native plant species.
  • Assist with management of the resident and migratory Canada goose population on athletic fields and lagoon areas, including cleaning and minor repairs related to damage.
  • Perform related duties as required to support park operations and visitor services.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or two years of relevant work experience strongly preferred.
  • Valid Massachusetts Class D driver’s license required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of park visitors and work independently in an outdoor environment.
  • Ability to use a computer, basic measuring instruments, identification keys, and hand tools.
  • Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays as part of their regular schedule.
