Human Resources Generalist

The Town of Brookline is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist to support a wide range of HR functions . This position plays a critical role in ensuring fair, consistent, and effective HR practices across Town departments.
The HR Generalist performs professional and administrative work across a wide range of human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, leave management, employee relations, and workplace investigations. This position is expected to provide comprehensive HR support to departments and employees while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, policies, and collective bargaining agreements. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, strong communication and documentation skills, and the ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism.
Essential Functions:
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Public or Business Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Three to five years of progressively responsible HR experience is required. Must have experience conducting workplace investigations and writing reports. Excellent writing skills and a strong working knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and investigative procedures is required. Municipal or public sector experience is preferred.
