The Town of Brookline is seeking an experienced, high-performing municipal professional to serve as Assistant Town Administrator for Operations. This key leadership role supports the Town Administrator in managing day-to-day functions of Town government, overseeing operations of the Select Board/Town Administrator’s Office, and ensuring exceptional responsiveness to residents, boards, and staff.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-profile environment, is an exceptional communicator and problem-solver, and brings strong supervisory and organizational skills. This position plays a critical liaison role between residents, department heads, elected officials, vendors, and external agencies — often serving as the first point of contact on complex constituent matters. This position requires attendance at evening meetings and occasional weekend hours.
Responsibilities
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in public administration, business management or related field; five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in high profile office administration, communications or customer service; municipal and supervisory experience strongly preferred; experience working with the public is highly desired; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
