Key Responsibilities:
- Event Coordination & Program Delivery:
Lead, plan, coordinate, and implement a wide variety of recreational, educational, and leisure programs for the community. You will oversee major community events such as Brookline Day, Summer Concert Series, and Harvest Fest, ensuring successful execution and a positive community experience.
- Health & Wellness Leadership:
Spearhead the department's Health & Wellness initiative, creating programs that promote physical activity and well-being for all ages and abilities. Serve as the liaison between the Recreation Department and vendor-based wellness programs.
- Marketing & Community Engagement:
Develop and implement marketing initiatives to promote recreation programs and community events. This includes managing the department’s digital, physical, and social media presence, and ensuring effective communication with the public.
- Sponsorship & Community Partnerships:
Actively seek out and secure sponsorships and donations to support community events and programs, strengthening relationships with local businesses and external partners.
- Supervision & Team Leadership:
Supervise part-time employees, volunteers, and other Recreation leaders as needed, ensuring efficient operations and a collaborative team environment.
- Operational Support:
Provide assistance with online/phone registrations, program check-ins, and the general needs of the department. Contribute to organizing and ordering supplies for various programs and events.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Leisure Services, Physical Education, or a related field; 3-5 years of experience in recreation program development and delivery; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Event planning and supervisory experience preferred.
· Additional Requirements:
- Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License, Class D.
- CPR and First Aid certification (must be obtained upon hire).
- Strong knowledge of recreation principles, program planning, public relations, and customer service.
