The Town of Brookline is seeking a Deputy Director of Engineering with a proven track record of leading impactful civil engineering projects, managing public infrastructure programs, and driving innovation. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and execution of civil engineering initiatives, including public infrastructure, technology solutions, and asset management.
  • Coordinate and track the progress of Brookline’s engineering projects, while keeping the community engaged with transparent updates.
  • Oversee technical review, permits, inspections, records management, budget support, and planning for the Engineering Division.
  • Advocate for engineering best practices in municipal operations, from construction standards to environmental compliance.
  • Prepare presentations, organize public workshops, and represent the Town at community events and meetings.
  • Manage municipal infrastructure projects and promote innovative engineering practices across the community.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Five to seven years of experience in commercial or municipal engineering and personnel management.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of municipal engineering principles, construction standards, and public bidding processes.
  • Excellent communication, supervisory, leadership, and public outreach skills.
  • Proficiency in Geographic Information System (GIS) and Geographic Positioning System (GPS).
  • Ability to perform budget analysis, write and manage contracts, and administer grants.
  • Strong technical and computer skills.
