Brookline DPW’s Highway & Sanitation division seeks a Traffic Systems and Municipal Light Manager to oversee the Town’s municipal traffic signal systems, roadway and street lighting, regulatory and street signage, pavement markings, parking meters, the wireless fire alarm system, and related electrical and electronic infrastructure within the public right of way. This supervisory, highly technical role ensures safe, consistent, and reliable operation of critical electrical and transportation systems. The position manages Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), directs staff and contractors, supports roadway safety initiatives, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local codes and Town standards.

Qualifications
High school diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred; additional technical training in electronics, computer technology, or a related field; five to seven years of experience in traffic control systems, roadway and street lighting maintenance, electrical work, and wireless fire alarm systems, including supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Required licenses and certifications:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong competency in electrical and electronic traffic systems, ITS technologies, and interpreting plans and schematics. They will have excellent analytical, communication, planning, and supervisory abilities, experience supervising through a subordinate supervisor, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment, coordinate complex field operations, and respond to emergencies in varying outdoor conditions.
Pay and Benefits
